To Soldiers & Friends of Hempstead Citadel
Annually, The Salvation Army moves many of its officers to new assignments at the end of June. This year some of the changes will bring sadness to our corps. The Salvation Army has announced that, effective June 28th, both our corps officers and assistant corps officers will undertake new appointments as follows:
Majors Philip and Susan Wittenberg will begin assignments at Greater New York Divisional Headquarters, Major Phil as divisional secretary and Major Susan as assistant women's ministries secretary, community care secretary, retired officers representative, and silver star secretary
Lieutenants Duglas and Magda Mendoza will begin assignments at the corps in Penuelas, Puerto Rico, as corps officers
Also effective on June 28th, Majors Douglas and Linda Jones, now serving as corps officers in Manchester, CT, will begin service at Hempstead as our corps officers. Lt. Luis Ocasio, now serving as assistant corps officer in Freeport, NY, will begin service at Hempstead as our assistant corps officer.
In addition, new appointments will affect the Hempstead ARC. Captain Elizabeth and Lt. Mark Ferreira, valuable, active soldiers of our corps since July 2014, will undertake assignments at the ARC in Brockton, MA, Captain Elizabeth as administrator for program and Lt. Mark as administrator for business.
Captain Yvonne and A/Captain Philip Warren, now serving as assistant officers at the ARC in Providence, RI, will begin service at the Hempstead ARC as assistant administrators for program.
On June 28th, other new appointments involving former Hempstead Citadel leaders will include the following:
Major Carol Ditmer, our former corps officer, will become corps officer of Hartford (Citadel), CT
Major Steve Ditmer, our former corps officer, will transfer to Southern New England Divisional Headquarters in Hartford, where he will serve as divisional property officer and divisional music director.
Major Collette Masom, our former cadet assistant, will transfer to Eastern Territorial Headquarters, where she will serve as territorial retired officers representative.
Please pray for these officers who are so important to us and for our corps and ARC as they undergo leadership changes.
Saturday May 2, 2015 - Our corps young people had an amazing time at this year's Star Search Talent Display with over one-thousand young musicians from around the Greater New York Division. Our own Giancarlo took second place in level one brass, and Sadé took second place in level one piano. All of our participants worked extremely hard over the past few months, and we were able to honor them the day after Star Search in Holiness Meeting with their Star Search pins. Please continue to pray for our young people as they work at the gifts God has given to them. Enjoy this photo album of some of Hempstead Citadel's participants in the day, including Gordon and Christopher Ward of the Divisional Music & Creative Arts staff who worked tirelessly to prepare and successfully execute the colossal event.
